Embedded Computers

Security, identification and encoding are just some of the common uses of embedded computers such as in RFID technology.

One of the most common places where such technology is used is for security purposes in department stores. When we go to malls, there are these certain detectors placed on the doors of the store which gives a loud alarm when it is able to detect unsold items beyond the sensor. This is a perfect example of RFID readers that are seen in almost every store. Once the reader detects the unsold item, it will instantly send a signal that is the form of an alarm.

Another example is the Loyalty cards or other ID cards that make use as a form of identification into certain places that enables access to confidential data or restricted premises in a company.

Card encoding is also another technology that is used in encoding and computing data that is made possible by the memories or microprocessors embedded on the cards. Some plastic card printers produced at present already make use of this concept.

The mentioned technologies are just some of the several examples that are already used in various applications. In the future, these could dominate security and identification systems and various studies will be conducted to further improve the said field.
